ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR & PLANS EXAMINER

LTL Consultants, LTD. has a full-time job opening for a Commercial Electrical Inspector and Plans Examiners.

We are seeking a certified Commercial Electrical Inspector and Plans Examiner. This is a technical level position that includes review and examination of construction plans and specifications and field inspection for new buildings and alterations to existing buildings for compliance with adopted electrical codes. Candidates that possess multiple UCC certifications will be given preference.

Essential Duties

  • Perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with adopted electrical codes.
  • Review building plans to determine compliance with adopted electrical codes.
  • Document findings, prepare reports and maintain records of inspections. Issue non-compliance notices and perform follow-up code enforcement inspections.
  • Confer with and assist property and landowners, architects, and builders with proper practices and techniques of design, construction and requirements.
  • Respond to complaints from municipal officials, residents, and stakeholders regarding municipal codes and/or ordinances.
  • Recommend design and specification changes where necessary for compliance with ordinances and regulatory practices.
  • Provide courteous, high quality service to members of the public by personally responding to requests for service or making appropriate referral.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in fields of codes enforcement or inspection.
  • Previous experience, preferably 3-5 years, in the electrical inspection and or electrical construction industry, particularly commercial and industrial experience.
  • U.C.C. Certification and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspector’s License
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Recommend design and specification changes where necessary for compliance with ordinances and regulatory practices.
  • Ability to make tough decisions in the best interest of safety.
  • Drive to excel in your profession

Strong emphasis is placed on the ability to effectively communicate technical information, orally and in writing, in a professional manner to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, municipal officials and the general public. Skill is required with reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications and contract documents. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize technical skills to verify and improve public and private projects. The position offers the opportunity for advancement into other areas of commercial building inspection.
